Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch: Everything You Need to Know About

Fossil has launched a new smartwatch in the long-running smartwatch series called Fossil Gen 6.  It has been using the Wear OS software for a long time, but Samsung and Google have teamed up to revitalize the Wear OS for smartwatches.

Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch is running the Wear OS 2, and it did not get any updates since 2019. However, it will not receive an update until 2022.

Fossil Gen 6- Design

The smartwatch comes in different versions based on a single design. It has a 44-mm round casing. The smartwatch has three buttons, and you can also rotate the buttons to scroll the menus and settings on the smartwatch.

Fossil also offers customization with two strap sizes, leather, silicone, and stainless-steel strap variants. The main chassis also has stainless steel build material to provide a better shape.

Display

It has a similar display size as the previous version. The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch has a 1.28-inch round OLED screen. The display has 416 x 416 resolution support. It has 328 pixels per inch density rate. The display quality is excellent in the smartwatch.

Sensors

Fossil has added more sensors to match the other premium watch features. The Fossil Gen 6 does not have an EKG monitor. Having different sensors does not offer better health tracking.

Fossil does not offer any health app to track or monitor your health records. As a result, you can only take individual ratings.

Fitness Tracking

Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch has blood oxygen level monitoring, sleep tracking, and a lot of fitness tracking modes. You will also get notifications for the step counts. You will have to start each workout mode manually because it does not have advanced automatic activity recording.

Battery Life

Battery life on Fossil Gen 6 is a bit of a disappointment. You can barely get two days of battery life on regular use. As a result, you will have to charge the smartwatch before going to bed. Power modes and advanced features also consume more battery.

Fossil also uses the direct-contact pogo pins to get fast charging support. In short, you can charge the smartwatch rapidly.

Price

The retail price for Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch is $299 for the silicone or leather strap. If you want a stainless-steel strap, then you will have to pay $319.

Pros

  • Premium Design.
  • Bright & Colorful Display.
  • SpO2 and heart rate monitoring.
  • Performance.

Cons

  • Less Battery life.
  • Sleep tracking and GPS navigation are not accurate.
  • Fewer fitness models.

Conclusion

Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch will also attract a broad audience because of its well-furnished and stunning finish. The smartwatch also includes additional features like NFC and blood oxygen sensors. It only lacks the battery. If you do not want many fitness tracking modes, you should buy the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch.
